Tracking & Locating
Next Generation Wireless for the Government Today
For decades, tracking and locating solutions have proven their value in both commercial and government sectors. Core to Qualcomm’s commercial business are solutions to manage fleet operations, communicate with personnel, and monitor vehicle and driver location and status. Our end-to-end mobile fleet management systems meet the needs of agencies and fleets of all sizes. Qualcomm and our partners offer platforms and services that can help reduce operating costs and increase safety through improved resource utilization, enhanced security, and proactive fuel management. These traditionally vehicle-based tracking systems have been extended to include cellular handsets, permitting the tracking of personnel, in addition to vehicles, thus providing a comprehensive situational awareness view of all resources. This is paramount in ensuring the safety of personnel and non-personnel assets.
OmniTRACS
OmniTRACS is a proven, near real-time, two-way satellite-based mobile data communications and position tracking/reporting system developed by Qualcomm. It is capable of operating worldwide using available Ku-Band satellites. With more than 750,000 systems in operation worldwide and with a suite of COTS hardware and software information management products, OmniTRACS is capable of meeting and/or complementing current and future emergency response and military requirements for tracking vehicles. The OmniTRACS design architecture has inherent anti-jam, LPI/LPD (Low Probability of Intercept/Detect) and security characteristics that support military and government use.
OmniTRACS is in operation in Kosovo, Bosnia and Iraq, supporting the military in its peacekeeping operation, providing vehicle positioning for situational awareness, logistical tracking and two-way data communications.
OmniTRACS is the standard for the Defense Transportation Tracking System (DTTS) used in the U.S. and Europe on all vehicles carrying hazardous material, chemical and biological waste for the government and military. OmniTRACS is also the standard for FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Teams First Responders to local disasters.
OmniTRACS provides government agencies with a reliable, robust, always available tracking and locating solution to address daily and emergency response scenarios.
As examples of how we modify Qualcomm commercial products, QGOV has provided technology enhancements for OmniTRACS to allow its data to be encrypted and to interface it with Plugr, a military-grade GPS instrument. OmniTRACS has proven interface into Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Battle Command Sustainment and Support System (BCS3), Force XXI Battle Command Brigade-and-Below (FBCB2) and other Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) servers.
