LTE boosts data capacity with new, wider bandwidth spectrum
Its own evolutionary path running parallel with 3G ’s, LTE provides high data rates and an enhanced user experience by leveraging new, wider bandwidth spectrum. Many operators are already planning to overlay LTE on their 3G and Evolved 3G networks to augment data capacity.
LTE Benefits:
- Boosts data capacity in dense urban areas
- Suitable for new spectrum with 10 MHz or more of bandwidth
- Seamless interoperability with 3G and voice services provided through LTE/3G multimode devices
- Optimal solution for unpaired TDD spectrum
- Supported by a large 3G ecosystem of operators and vendors
Multimode devices will play a pivotal role in the commercialization of LTE. With its industry- first LTE/3G chipsets, Qualcomm is ready to support operators when they decide to augment their 3G and Evolved 3G networks with LTE. The early LTE commercial launches with multimode devices are expected in the latter part of 2010.
