HSPA+ Multicarrier - Enhanced broadband for all
Rel. 8 Multicarrier expands HSPA+ to 10 MHz and enhances the broadband experience for all users in the cell. Thanks to the tremendous success of mobile broadband, many operators are deploying second and third carriers of HSPA/HSPA+ to address the unprecedented increase in data demand. Rel. 8 Multicarrier allows the aggregation of two 5 MHz carriers in the downlink with a simple cost-effective upgrade.
Rel. 8 Multicarrier benefits:
- 42 Mbps downlink peak data rates in 10 MHz
- Doubled data rates and lower latency for all users in the cell
- Up to twice the capacity for bursty applications such as Web browsing
- Standardized support for femtocells
HSPA+ Multicarrier is an optimal solution for up to 10 MHz of spectrum and will be commercial in 2010. Qualcomm with its strong HSPA+ Rel. 8 chipset portfolio is well prepared to support its partners in early commercialization of Multicarrier.
