In the Spotlight

Meet Steve Mollenkopf
President, Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT)

Steve Mollenkopf thrills to the challenge of succeeding against the naysayers. A long-time Qualcommer, it's in his blood. "I like it when people tell us we can't do something," he says. "My goal is to continue our company's legacy of accomplishing the amazing."

In August, Mollenkopf was named QCT President. A career Qualcommer whose most recent role was head of QCT's Cellular Products Group, Steve Mollenkopf is excited about leading QCT on the path to continued success. Steve joined Qualcomm in 1994 after earning two degrees in electrical engineering. He was a leading contributor to Qualcomm's Globalstar project until moving to QCT in 1999. For most of the past decade he led the development of the UMTS family of air interface technologies. His technical and business leadership have been critical to the development and implementation of multiple industry-leading innovations.

Qualcomm's ubiquitous reach drives Steve. "Everywhere you look you'll see products with our technologies inside," he notes. "We're in devices that our parents have and our children will have. That motivates a lot of people. It certainly motivates me."

Mobile devices I carry: "A WinMobile device, an Amazon Kindle, a laptop with a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO card – "a great product"—and a changing array of higher functionality phones with QCT technologies inside."

Where I think wireless technology has made the greatest impact: "Everybody is always connected. We used to talk about calling people's houses. Now we talk about calling a person because their device is associated with them. I think that will grow. Wireless technology has changed the way we work and the way we interface with our families."

Qualcomm Cares
Christmas in June!
Christmas

From the beginning, Qualcomm has been committed to supporting the communities in which our employees work and live. This past June, Qualcomm employees were happy to lend a hand for the San Diego Armed Services YMCA "2nd Annual Christmas You Missed" where we celebrated the magic of the holiday season with local military families separated during Christmas 2007 due to deployment in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, or other circumstances. Qualcomm volunteers signed hundreds of holiday cards, and on June 25th, Qualcomm helped bring the holiday to life for more than 500 military families and their loved ones. Christmas morning was recreated complete with holiday music, Christmas brunch and presents from Santa.

In 2007, Qualcomm employees volunteered more than 55,000 hours and over 350 employees are serving on the board of directors of local organizations. By consistently fostering a community-oriented, philanthropic culture,

Qualcomm has been recognized again and again as a responsible, globally oriented corporate citizen. This continues to be the backbone of Qualcomm's culture.
